Why Hypnosis?
Hello, my name is Jessica
Gutierrez. I am certified in Clinical and Medical hypnotherapy. I am here today
to share with you why I believe hypnosis is the future of healing and why it's
the most effective way to heal and rebuild the mind. Hypnosis works directly
with the subconscious mind, the subconscious mind is the part of our brain that
isn't currently in focused awareness.
Within the subconscious mind, we have modules. These modules
are internal representations of everything we have ever experienced. The
subconscious mind uses these images, memories, and experiences to shape our
personality and who we are to the world, these modules are called The Cognitive
Maps. The cognitive maps function as a subconscious tool for decision making,
reasoning and in helping navigate our daily lives, such as our behavior, who we
are, and how we act. They are also
responsible for regulating emotions and short-term memory. Most people, at some
point, have tried to make permanent behavioral changes, some have tried with
discipline, others with willpower or even with positive affirmations. However, most
of the time these changes are only preformed in the conscious mind, this is why
sometimes people don’t commit or don’t get the results that they desire. To
truly make permanent behavioral changes, we must direct our attention and our
focus to the subconscious mind, that's where everything is stored and that is
the exact place where that experience came to fruition meaning that is the only
place where were experiences, memories, habits or emotions can be reframed. The
only way to deliberately access that part of the subconscious mind is through
hypnosis. You might wonder how is it actually done though, right so let me
explain, When you deliberately want to go into hypnosis we focus on the brain
waves, these electrical patterns in the brain are associated with different
states of consciousness. We have Gamma, Beta, Alpha, Theta and Delta waves. Gamma
waves, which are the highest and fastest frequency, are like playing a sport.
You have the most adrenaline. Beta waves are when we are fully immersed in a
state of alertness and concentration. In the Alpha waves you start to feel
calmer, more relaxed and full of ideas for creativity. In the Theta waves state
you might feel drowsy, daydreamy, or about to take a nap meaning very very
relaxed, here the body can also go on autopilot. Finally, we have Delta waves,
this is the slowest frequency we experience, we are normally in the delta waves
when we are asleep here we can also associate with physical restoration and
healing of the body and the mind rejuvenating properly. Hypnosis occurs between
alpha waves with deeper relaxation as we enter theta waves. The delta waves can
help with performing hypnosis during surgery which is called Hypno-anesthesia,
eliminating pain and sensation through hypnosis, without the use of chemical
drugs.
Now we can begin to understand why permanent behavioral changes cannot be made in our conscious mind. You can't change it there if it didn't start there and if that memory is not even located there. This is why hypnosis is called brief therapy because we focus on the roots of the experience, the place where a particular emotion once emerged, in that part of the mind, called the cognitive maps within the subconscious mind. Through hypnosis, changes can be made faster, which manifest in very effective ways to heal. We touch the part of the mind where only with hypnosis can be reached, where things were once created, hypnosis can deliberately relax you enough to allow yourself to connect with those brain waves. Through positive suggestions and adaptability, simply works faster directly accessing the subconscious mind re-framing your brains nero pathways with direct interaction and repetition. According to the American Health Magazine 2022, it takes 600 sessions of traditional talk therapy to achieve change in the average human mind with only 34% chance of success. But with hypnotherapy, it takes just six sessions, which is 93% more effective than traditional talk therapy.
I hope this has helped you understand a little
more about why hypnosis works so well with the mind and why I say that it is
the future of healing. I am super happy to share this with you building strong
relationships with both clients and peers. I am grateful of my journey and the experiences
that have helped to shape where I am today, using my experiences to help others
find the way and heal their minds.
