It's time for a dopamine detox.

         Yes, It is time to focus on what really matters. First of all what is dopamine, it is a chemical messenger in the brain which helps with motivation and reward-seeking feelings affecting certain moods and other bodily functions. Dopamine gives you pleasurable and satisfactory feelings which causes you to feel happy and or motivated. Now, what do I mean when I say that it is time for a dopamine detox? I mean to take a break for yourself from everything around you that gives you a satisfactory feeling knowing that it is not all "good" experiences. For example, when you get a dopamine hit it is because it has been released due to a pleasurable experience, in this case you will intentionally avoid activities that trigger this release like, social media, YouTube, binge-watching, porn, junk food, video games, shopping. etc. By decreasing that instant gratification you start to let the brain's reward system reset, improving focus and reducing cravings for stimulating behaviors and leading to control over certain addictions. This is very important to do because now in days we have so much around us that distracts us from our goals, from our future and even from ourselves. We can get so lost with those quick instant gratification hits that feel so good that we forget what completing a task actually feels like. It keeps us away from letting go of certain behaviors that are unhealthy for us. It can be hard but it is very doable because you are in control of your mind, of your body, your actions and your choices.
